چکیده

Table detailing the compounds released via root exudation by the plant as it develops. These were collected over a period of 3 days (7-10 days, 14-17 days, 21-24 days and 28-31 days). Compounds were detected using GC-MS. Numbers indicate the average area under the curve of three replicates, numbers in parenthesis indicate the standard deviation.

Root Exudation of Phytochemicals in Arabidopsis Follows Specific Patterns That Are Developmentally Programmed and Correlate with Soil Microbial Functions

Plant roots constantly secrete compounds into the soil to interact with neighboring organisms presumably to gain certain functional advantages at different stages of development. Accordingly, it has been hypothesized that the phytochemical composition present in the root exudates changes over the course of the lifespan of a plant. Here, root exudates of in vitro grown Arabidopsis plants were co...

Influence of Arabidopsis thaliana accessions on rhizobacterial communities and natural variation in root exudates

The rhizosphere is strongly influenced by plant-derived phytochemicals exuded by roots and plant species exert a major selective force for bacteria colonizing the root-soil interface. We have previously shown that rhizobacterial recruitment is tightly regulated by plant genetics, by showing that natural variants of Arabidopsis thaliana support genotype-specific rhizobacterial communities while ...

Influence of ATP-Binding Cassette Transporters in Root Exudation of Phytoalexins, Signals, and in Disease Resistance

The roots of plants secrete compounds as a way to exchange information with organisms living in the soil. Here, we report the involvement of seven root-expressed ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters corresponding to both full and half-size molecules (Atabcg36, Atabcg37, Atabcc5, Atabcf1, Atabcf3, Atnap5, and Atath10) in root exudation processes using Arabidopsis thaliana. Root exuded phytoch...

Fungal communities influence root exudation rates in pine seedlings.

Root exudates are hypothesized to play a central role in belowground food webs, nutrient turnover, and soil C dynamics in forests, but little is known about the extent to which root-associated microbial communities influence exudation rates in trees. We used a novel experimental technique to inoculate loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) seedlings with indigenous forest fungi to examine how diverse f...

Degradation of crude oil in the rhizosphere of Sorghum bicolor.

Dissipation of petroleum contaminants in the rhizosphere is likely the result of enhanced microbial degradation. Plant roots may encourage rhizosphere microbial activity through exudation of nutrients and by providing channels for increased water flow and gas diffusion. Phytoremediation of crude oil in soil was examined in this study using carefully selected plant species monitored over specifi...
